Band Director

Dr. Joshua Biere is an educator and professional musician based in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Tuba Performance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, a Master of Music from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Illinois Wesleyan University.

Dr. Biere brings years of teaching experience working with students of all ages, having taught at the university level at institutions including UW-Whitewater and Lawrence University, and currently serves as Brass Choir Director for the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras. Over his career, he has also maintained a private studio of more than 60 young musicians, helping students build strong foundational skills and a lasting love of music.

Alongside his teaching, Dr. Biere is an active professional performer, serving as Principal Tuba with the Madison Symphony Orchestra since 2013. He has performed with orchestras across the Midwest, including the Milwaukee Symphony, Grant Park Symphony, and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and regularly shares that performing experience with his students.
